Tough ending. Thought Tech played a pretty good game to keep it a game when a team outscores you by 24 points from beyond the arc. Some quick thoughts after the first loss on the year.

Ugly first half: Probably Tech’s worst half of basketball combined with St. Joe’s best half of basketball this season. Tech struggled defensively and the Red Raiders couldn’t find many answers on the offensive side. Tech was bad from three and wasn’t great throughout as it unfolded

Toppin excellent on offensive boards & in paint: This dude was as advertised tonight. He cleaned everything up in the paint and kept Tech in the ballgame. On the offensive boards, Toppin was helping out his teammates who weren’t shooting very well and found ways to get down low. Was impressive for Tech to adjust the gameplan mid-game to get D5 & Toppin downhill.

Chance & Christian spark comeback: This pair was key down the stretch for Tech. Really thought that the both of them provided a spark offensively after struggling a bit earlier in the game, especially Anderson. For a freshman to be able to bounce back like he did tonight was impressive. Gave yourself a chance.

Tech’s defense struggles to guard without fouling: This was a struggle all night. Truly was. Tough whistle to guard to but the Red Raiders got lost in rotations multiple times. Has to be better, and I think Tech’s ability to rebound the basketball helped them survive it and keep it close.

Tough break: Tough for Darrion Williams to miss it at the buzzer. He had a great game, but missed a few bunnies, and somewhat did at the buzzer. Tough break, lot to learn from, can flush it quickly, at least.
