Some thoughts on an interesting game for the Red Raiders…
-Kerwin Walton has had a hell of a stretch. After his best performance as a Red Raider last week against Omaha, he turned in another quality night on both ends of the floor. It seemed that Oral Roberts was trying to pick on him a bit defensively and he didn’t miss many assignments on the evening. His development is massive for this team’s ceiling moving forward.
-Robert Jennings had a tough night offensively but I was impressed with what he did on the boards and on defense. His effort was there, and I think that’s a big part of why he got so much run tonight. There were multiple moments where McCasland sent Warren Washington back to the bench after Jennings made a play.
-Tech’s defensive effort improved, and Tech was able to survive a really strong shooting night for ORU.
- Tech was able to shut down Isaac McBride, who is Oral Robert’s leading scorer and averages 20 points per game this season. A really, really good night for this team defensively.
-Darrion Williams once again had a really quiet and sneaky good night on offense, even got to a double double. If you can consistently get double digits from him with his really excellent defensive and rebounding ability, he is a massive piece for this team.
-Warren Washington was really good in the pick and roll, got down hill pretty well and chipped in a double double.
-I’m pretty excited by how this team looked without Cambridge. The path to the tournament is going to be through quality defense and being able to shoot the rock from deep.
