What a final push. A slog of a game for 36 minutes before the Red Raiders found their footing offensively, largely led by Toppin who had a double-double in the contest. Huge win for Tech. Cannot say enough.
-Pretty strong day from Toppin, all things considered. Battling through the ankle and the sickness to get ready for this one and do what he did was pretty impressive. Obviously he struggled a bit from the field, everyone really did, but he was key for Tech defensively, then he hit the massive hook with around three minutes left.
-McMillian fought through a tough start offensively to really help Tech. I thought he had a bigger impact on the boards than the box shows but his ability to score, and bail Tech out at times was really helpful.
-Tech really struggled against Arizona’s length, especially when the defensive intensity got turned up mid-way through the second half. It was an ugly game, felt similar to what we saw in Manhattan for a bit. The question on how you view this is do you give credit to Tech defensively or did Zona just shoot like crap?
-I’ll give some of that credit to Tech defensively. I think that Anderson was immensely key late. He had a great closeout on Love on the second chance three attempt then the steal in the corner a few possessions later. Tech did extremely well to survive a physical game.
