Commented on this in the RRC, but thought I would get other's peoples favorites.
My personal favorite football player, and probably the reason I became such a Tech diehard, is Byron Hanspard. I was just a little kid ( I am 28 now) when he was playing and can remember my pop taking me to almost every home game in my #4 jersey. He and Zebbie were my guys back in the day.
When I was young I lived off of 79th and Frankford and there was that Home Plate Diner right there off of 82nd and Frankford. (still convinced those burgers were the best in Lubbock) My mom took me over there and I had the Sports Illustrated where Darvin is breaking the glass. He was there signing autographs and I got that issue signed and then framed it. I still have it somewhere, believe at my parents house. Getting that thing signed and talking to him was the coolest shit on planet Earth back in my day. Still is.
Gonna be a slow Friday, anybody want to share a cool story or their favorite player? About time we get just a bit of good cheer in this forum.
