Express-News: 34 Big 12 players invited to NFL Combine by school

The Big 12 lags behind the other Power Five conferences in players invited to the NFL Combine Feb. 23-29 in Indianapolis, but some of its teams have some strong showings of players who were invited.

Oklahoma tops the conference with seven players who were invited. TCU, West Virginia and Baylor had six players each, while Texas Tech and Oklahoma State had three players, Kansas State with two and Texas with one.

Here's a look at the players who were invited by their schools.

Oklahoma (7) - ILB Dominique Alexander, OLB Devante Bond, G Nila Kasitati, CB Zack Sanchez, WR Sterling Shepard, OLB Eric Striker, DE Charles Tapper/

Baylor (6) - NT Andrew Billings, WR Corey Coleman, G Spencer Drango, CB Xavien Howard, LS Jimmy Landes, DE Shawn Oakman.

TCU (6) - QB Trevone Boykin, WR Josh Doctson, FS Derrick Kindred, WR Kolby Listenbee, K Jaden Oberkrom, OT Halapoulivaati Vaitai.

West Virginia (6) - S K.J. Dillon, S Karl Joseph, ILB Nick Kwiatkoski, P Nick O'Toole, RB Wendell Smallwood, CB Daryl Worley.


Oklahoma State (3) - DE Jimmy Bean, DE Emmanuel Ogbah, CB Kevin Peterson.

Texas Tech (3) - T Le'Raven Clark, DE Branden Jackson, RB DeAndre Washington.

Kansas State (2) - RB Glenn Gronkowski, T Cody Whitehair.

Texas (1) - DT Hassan Ridgeway.

Iowa State and Kansas had no players who were invited.

Ohio State led all colleges with 14 players who were selected. The Buckeyes just missed the single-season record of 15 by the Buckeyes in 2004.

Ten Notre Dame players were invited to the combine and nine players apiece were selected from UCLA and Alabama.

Among the more notable snubs included TCU running back Aaron Green and Baylor wide receiver Jay Lee. Both will have their opportunity to show scouts when they participate at their school's respective pro days next month.
