Ok the thread title is a nod to a great Star Trek episode, and the basis for that title is this:

There is a lot of talk about how the Raiders will slow down and grind out Buffalo, that's all fine and good and I suppose there is no reason to think anything else would be the game plan.

But, I do want to harken back to yesteryear, 1987, and recall that the Indiana Hoosiers were up against UNLV in the Final Four. Same conversation now as then, about how IU would control the tempo and prevent the Rebels from Runnin'.

Well, Bob Knight didn't see it that way. Instead IU came out running and gunning and ran with UNLV the entire game to (as I recall) a 4 point win where IU led most of the game. Afterwards, Knight said their scouting convinced him that IU could not beat UNLV if UNLV got into their defense so Indiana wanted to move as quickly as they could to prevent UNLV from setting up.

Only throwing this out there because there is some context, though I do not mean to compare Buffalo to UNLV other than to say Buffalo has won a lot of games and they like to get up and down the floor. I have seen Buffalo play a grand total of 4 quarters this year, two of those on Thursday. I don't know what kind of defense they play, I do know they don't look overly tall but they do look like they can all handle the ball.
