Mansfield Lake Ridge and Tech QB commit Jett Duffey called me late last night to talk day three at the Elite 11 and what he's thought so far. The first two days were more about the mental challenges that quarterbacks can face, but day three is really about on-field performance solely.

The signal callers have now divided up into their teams for seven-on-seven during the Opening, and Duffey's team - Alpha Pro to be specific - had a great day during redzone drills. After that, the QBs finally met the rest of their teams and spent some time bonding with them.

"It went extremely well today. It was pretty great. As a team, we basically did seven-on-seven redzone scoring. As a team, we went 17 for 18, which was was one of the best scores for the quarterbacks out there. I went six for six, had a lot of great throws and great decisions. It was pretty great to also meet our teams, like the players for the Opening and stuff. We went on a tour of Nike, had like a reveal of our uniforms, the locker room, all the player's lounge, and it was just hanging out as a team, hanging out with everyone. We then had a meeting with our position coaches, and we came back to the hotel."

Michigan commit Brandon Peters and Nebraska commit Patrick O'Brien are the other two quarterbacks on Alpha Pro with Duffey.

"They're both pretty good guys, and I've gotten to know them well. My roommate is Brandon Peters, and he's more of a quiet guy. We actually call him No Emotion. They always say he has no emotion, but he's always smiling. Then Patrick, he's a pretty cool, laid back guy, especially since he's from Cali and everything. It's pretty nice."

So, how does the Tech commit feel like he's done through the first three days of the competition?

"I feel like I've done pretty well. I feel like I've been getting better and better each day, and I'm just ready for seven-on-seven to show what I've been studying and learning in my playbook over the last month and everything like that. I'm just ready."

Wednesday will focus mainly on the SPARQ combine testing, a competition which will determine who gets the most face time on television once seven-on-seven begins on Thursday.

"Tomorrow we start all the combine testing. I'm extremely excited. The team with the highest score is the team that secures a spot on TV when we play seven-on-seven."

That's it for now, but I'll check in with the QB once again tonight to see how things went today.
