Around 1991 my 13-year old daughter, Laura, tried out for a volleyball club based out of Arlington Martin High School. Back then, there were only about 5 or 6 clubs in the area, so select really meant "select". She made the club. At the first parents' meeting, I met a guy named Tom Spinks, whose daughter, Lindsay, went to Arlington Martin and was placed on the same team as my daughter. As I got to talking to him, I found out he was from Shreveport, LA and he was best friends with Terry Bradshaw growing up. Not only were they best friends starting in junior high, Tom was Terry's favorite receiver at both Woodlawn HS in Shreveport and at Louisiana Tech and even on to the Pittsburgh Steelers.
Over the next 18 years, until Tom's death in 2008, we were great friends. We played a lot of golf and had a lot of laughs joking about each other's daughters on the volleyball court. To make a very long story short, two of his daughters found hundreds of pages of handwritten notes about his days growing up in Shreveport and his friendship with Bradshaw.
I think you would find it a fun read.

One more thing, Tom Grieve's daughter, Katie, was also on the team with Laura and Lindsay. He truly is as nice as he appears on TV and his wife is even nicer.
