I scouted New Deal and San Saba tonight so I got to see Blaylock play.
The good, he’s definitely the 6 ft 5 in listed. He’s a good leaper and has above average body control. He clearly knows how to high point the ball. He has not hit his ceiling by any means so he could develop into a Vasher type.
The bad, he’s not fast. I wouldn’t say slow, but he doesn’t break away from people. He didn’t dominate his man, and he should have easily done so. He gets jammed at the los and knocked off his route easily and he takes a lot of plays off.
Blaylock isn’t the focal point of that offense, Whitfield is, but such is life in 2a football. I’ll get to see him again when New Deal plays Mason, but I doubt that goes well for him. Mason has several dbs that can hang with him easily.
He may be worth a walk on offer or he could get a offer but he’s going to really need to gain weight and work on his effort level to play at the next level. Just my opinion.
