The most depressing situation about Tech football is Coach Wells has done nothing to change the defensive production this year. Nor will he in the offseason either. Think about the games we have lost because of defense with us not being to stop the last opponent's drive of the game in at least three games. But here is a list of defensive debacles -Arizona, Baylor, Iowa State, OU, Kansas and now TCU where the Frogs set and a national record in 3rd down conversions. How many times has Coach Wells said - "we cannot get off the field on third downs" this year? Many times. It seems like an extension of the Gibb's era. And of course losing for the past 6 years will create apathy coupled with an offense with no stars making 28,000 fans into possibly the norm during the Wells time leading our program. Certainly Kirby is to blame setting the table for failure when he promised us an elite coach to establish an elite program. Well he promptly hired a "no-name" coach with no substantial victories or seasons at a a G5 school no one follows. That left the fan base in a "here we go again" feeling translating into a "who cares attitude". As long as Coach Wells is leading our program Texas Tech will remain in the bottom three teams in conference standings and our attendance will stay low.
