I've come to the conclusion that our defensive strategy is a disservice to our defensive players.
What upsets me is the overall defensive game plan, which is basically a prevent defense. How can our young defensive players learn to attack and make plays when they are constantly playing on their heels.
To make a comparison, our defense is like a golfer with a bad slice. A good coach would teach and demonstrate proper technique to correct the slice, whereas our coaches are basically telling our players to aim way left to compensate.
How can these young players get better? How can they ever learn to play their position correctly. It's a shame that more real coaching isn't going on.
