Wanted to see how many stops we made and considered (1) punts, (2) turnovers forced by the defense, and (3) failed 4th down conversions. Numbers in the first 3/4 of season are a little skewed because I recall holding teams to FGs on drives that started near or beyond the 50. I also didn't count missed FGs.

Excluding Kansas & Eastern Washington, our defense generated 31 stops or 5.2 per/game through ASU, UH, OSU, WVU, ISU, KSU, OU.

We generated 26 stops or 8.67 per game against Baylor, TCU, & UT, who may not be world beaters on offense but it's the Big 12 and they've scored some points on folks.

In that last 3 games, we gave up two 80 yard TD drives, three 75 yard TD drives, and a 63 and 9 yard TD drives (strangely, three were on the first possession of the game). Gave up FG drives of 78, 64, 18, 18 & 48.

Forced 16 punts, including 10 3 and outs. Recovered 5 fumbles, intercepted 3 passes, and made 2 4th down stops. It's killed me over the years giving up a TD on other teams' first second half possession. In last three games, we gave up one total first down and forced 3 punts on those.

In total, nine scoring drives (TD or FG) longer than 48 yards over the last 180 minutes. We forced more three and outs during that same time span, scored a defensive TD, recovered a fumble at the 6 yard line going in, and returned an interception to the 15 yard line. 51 total points scored against the D on those nine 50 yard+ drives, and the D arguably scored 17-21 points themselves. After taking out those situations when the offense screwed them and accounting for points that they generated themselves, the D was conceding a net of 10-13ish points per game during these last 3. I think I'll take that.

So, we go 2-1 during arguably the worst consecutive offensive performances in the Air Raid era (albeit against 2 pretty good defenses). Offense had TD drives of 89, 81, 75, 53, 32 & 14. That's four TD drives longer than 50 yards over the last 180 minutes, or 1 legit TD drive per 3 quarters of play.

Edit: math correction
