If Briles had kept the Baylor offense in high gear, they could scored north of 100 pts.. Nothing they were doing was even close to being stopped . Wide open receivers, running backs going 15-20 yards without being hit. They were averaging over 10 yards per play in the first half and scored 49 pts.
Same offense in the second half with the Tech defense even more tired would have put the scoring at record levels.
No doubt in my mind at least that several coaches would have made it worse > Patterson, Stoops and Gundy come to mind.
He has a lot of faults etc., but at least Briles did not make this a historical embarrassment for the program. People who did not watch the game will see the score and say high scoring game as expected, without knowing how bad it really could have been.
