At the game Saturday, we sat next to this older gentleman wearing a Tech t-shirt. He struck up a conversation and asked if we were from Lubbock and then told us that he's from Kansas.
Turns out he was one of Niem Stevenson's instructors from Seward CC. He was a long time KU fan, but he had driven down just to watch Niem (he called him Nemo) play, and for Saturday he was rooting for Tech. He saw several people he knew from Kansas and they all came over to greet him and all of them gave him grief about wearing a Tech shirt.
I thought it spoke very highly of Niem that this guy would drive 4½ hours to watch him play, and he loved the fact that Niem had a great game.
"Just a great, great kid."
