Ok, so California has passed a bill saying that all kids get the lunch "of their choice" whether their parents pay or not.

Now, I'm all for kids not being humiliated because they don't have lunch money. It's not the kids' fault, and school kids can be mean. It's BS to give them the nasty cheese sandwiches or butter and lettuce sandwiches (blech) that some schools heartlessly give out.

However, California is bankrupt because they can't manage their money despite having the highest state taxes and property taxes in the country. Now they are basically telling parents not to worry about paying, your kids will still get the lunch OF THEIR CHOICE. If I'm a school kid I'm going ape shit at the snack bar next time I forget my lunch money. Do kids who don't have money really deserve to get the lunch "of their choice"? How about just giving them the plate lunch cafeteria entree that is being served? When I was a kid if I forgot my lunch money (and it happened a couple of times), I got a hot lunch but it was what they were serving, not my choice of anything I wanted in the ala carte line. But hey, it's California where they spend like they have all the money in the world even when they're bankrupt.

To me this bill signifies why California can't manage it's finances despite taking in more money than any other state: it not only gives away things for free that it can't pay for, but it essentially tells people it's ok not to pay what you owe. Between that and letting in everyone at their southern border (while of course keeping 'those people' away from the gated communities where Pelosi and her friends live) I can't see how Califorinia will ever be solvent again. They are like my ex-wife who couldn't manage her money or credit cards if her life depended on it.
