Posting because I knew there has been plenty of discussion about the state of Tech baseball and what, if any, changes might be made at season's end. I don't think any of us anticipate seeing Tadlock getting the boot, but interesting to see a guy like Lemonis who just won a national title (only one in school history) get the boot after several down seasons.
Mississippi State fired Lemonis yesterday after a 25-19 (7-14 in SEC play) start to the season. MSU currently sits in 14th place in the conference.
Lemonis was in his 7th season (including covid year) at Mississippi State.
2019-- 52-15 (SEC West Champs), College World Series Appearance
2020-- 12-4 (Covid Season)
2021-- 50-18; National Champs
2022-- 26-30; No Postseason
2023-- 27-26; No Postseason
2024-- 40-23; NCAA Regional
2025-- 25-19
Some pretty significant names on the Mississippi State hot board (via D1 Baseball). So it appears they'll will aim to go big.
Nick Mingione-- Current Kentucky HC and former Mississippi State assistant
Skylar Meade-- Current Troy HC and former South Carolina pitching coach
Rob Vaughn-- Current Alabama HC and former Maryland HC. Corpus native, so there is a thought he could be a name to watch if A&M comes open in future years
Chris Pollard-- Current Duke HC. Mississippi State alum
Wes Johnson-- Current Georgia HC. Former Mississippi State, Arkansas and LSU assistant. Also former Twins pitching coach
Skip Johnson-- Current OU HC. The tie here is MSU AD Zach Selmon is a former administrator at OU where he worked with Skip
Brian O'Connor-- Current Virginia coach. Thought here is the current state of college athletics could get a guy like BO'C to finally move to a job like this. Turned down Aggy last year
Lane Burroughs-- Current LA Tech HC. Former Mississippi State assistant.
