Hurricane Beryl is breaking all norms for early season storms. Hurricanes very rarely form before hitting the Carribbean this early in the year. Only 2 % of all hurricanes since 1851 have formed in June and almost all those formed near the US. Another storm is developing right behind Beryl. Forecasts of warm seas and strong storms this season seem, at least for now, to be accurate.
Beryl is now predicted to be a Cat 4 with 140 sustained winds when it hits the islands early tomorrow morning. It's going to decimate much of the area.
