USF COMMIT TALKS TECH
Gainesville (Fla.) cornerback and current South Florida commit Chris Bivins'
stock has begun to rise nationally during his senior season.
"There are a bunch of schools calling me and my coaches, there are some new
schools that have entered the picture Cal and Texas Tech are two of the new
schools that are starting to talk to me more."
So far this season Bivins has registered 33 tackles, two interceptions, two
forced fumbles, two fumble receivers and three blocked field goals. He credits
his senior year success and the current interest in him by multiple schools to
his extra work this past off season.
"I feel like if I would not have worked as hard as I did this offseason then I
probably would not be where I am right now so working overtime really helps you
out and I am glad I did it this year because it is showing results for me and my
team on the field."
To this date the 5-foot-11, 175-pound prospect has taken official visits to
Arkansas and N.C. State. Bivins has not decided where he is going to take his
final three official visits but plans on getting them out of the way before the
end of this season.
Bivins does not know much about Cal or Tech and plans on researching them this
week.
"So far just my coach has talked to Cal and we have talked about it today at
practice but I have not talked to them yet. A few weeks ago USC and Cal both
asked for some film of me from my coaches and both of them are just now getting
back to me after watching the film," he said. "It is cool to get some
recognition from schools in California."
"I actually talked to a coach from Tech this week. We were talking about their
year so far and how young their defense is. They like the young defense but
right now they need a shutdown corner to complete that young defense and they
would like me to come down their and be that player from day one."
The USF commit liked the idea of being a team's shutdown corner.
"They like the young defense but right now they need a shutdown corner to
complete that young defense and they would like me to come down their and be
that player from day one."
The three star prospects, who graduates in January, also told RRS that he does
not mind playing in Texas.
"Texas has a lot of talent and for one of the major schools to come out of that
state to recruit me means a lot. It really isn't too far from home so I would
not mind playing in Texas at all."
Chris Bivins is currently committed to USF and holds offers from Arkansas, NC
State, South Carolina, Florida Atlantic, Florida International, Illinois, Iowa
State, Kentucky, Marshall, Memphis, Middle Tennessee State, Navy, Temple and
Utah.

OVERSTREET GIVES THE LATEST
?
Tatum (Texas) athlete Jalen Overstreet is enjoying what is amounting to be a
successful senior season as his Tatum Eagles (5-2) are hoping to finish strong
to secure a spot in the playoffs.
"We're doing well," Overstreet said. "We've got to keep winning, but I think
it's going well. I think, you know, we've got to win out so we can get the first
spot in the playoffs."
The 6-foot-2, 205-pound high school quarterback has been getting plenty of
attention on the recruiting front, already receiving offers from Arkansas,
Baylor, Kansas, Michigan, Missouri, and Texas Tech, but says that, at the
moment, he has been hearing from three schools in particular.
"Mainly Texas Tech, Baylor, and I just talked to Texas last week as well,"
Overstreet said. "Those are really the three schools I've been talking to the
most."
While Overstreet has been receiving a lot of attention, he hasn't begun to pick
any favorites just yet.
"I don't know if I clearly know yet, because I haven't been up there," he said.
"I haven't been around any of the coaches to see how they interact with their
players and everything. So, I really don't have one school that sticks out yet."
Overstreet says he is "not going to rush into anything," and has yet to schedule
any visits, but says he plans on taking some as soon as he is able to make time
in his schedule.
"All of the schools that are recruiting me right now have sent me the official
visit information, but it's just mainly when I can get time because I am playing
right now. So, I don't know yet."

KEENAN EXCITED ABOUT FUTURE
Argyle (Texas) offensive lineman Trey Keenan has been watching Texas Tech on the
field this season, and although he has been disappointed with the outcomes of the
last couple of games, he's optimistic about the future.
"That was a tough loss there to KSU, giving up about three touchdowns that
really could've been stopped," Keenan said. "I think that, once they start to
get things figured out, and with all the young guys that they have, by the time
I get there everyone will be rolling and we will be a top-10 team."
The 6-foot-5, 270-pound offensive tackle committed to Texas Tech back in June of
this year over offers from Arkansas, Baylor, Boise State, Kansas, Kansas State,
Michigan, Oklahoma State, and Tennessee among many others, and says he couldn't
be happier with his decision.
"I'm very comfortable with it, and I'm happy to be able to call myself a Red
Raider."
While Keenan is ready to make his way to Lubbock, his focus is solely on making
a run into the playoffs with his 6-1 Argyle squad as they get ready to take on a
struggling 2-5 Gainesville team.
"We had a big win last week, and we had a loss three weeks ago to Prosper, but
we're hoping to keep it going through the end of the year and into the
playoffs," Keenan said. "(Gainesville) aren't as strong as teams they've had in
the past, but we should be able to handle them pretty well."

2013 QB TAKING HIS TIME
Bryan (Texas) 2013 quarterback prospect Chris Johnson is starting to receive
interest in schools all around the country. Johnson has only visited UT and
Baylor so far but plans on visiting a few more before the season is over.
"We plan on going to Texas Tech, Arkansas, LSU and we are not really sure where
else."
The 6-foot-5, 195-pound dual-threat prospect told RRS that he could see himself
playing in the South Plains.
"Yes sir, they are a nice school that is very quarterback friendly," he said.
"They send me a good amount of stuff and I went to one of their camps over the
summer."
Johnson has not narrowed down his list of schools and plans on giving every
school interested a fair look before making any decisions.
"No one really standing out that much right now, they are about the same in my
eyes but I am just trying to keep my options open and find the best school for
me."

BRISCOE HAS TECH IN TOP THREE
Carencro (La.) defensive tackle Jacoby Briscoe has started to become pretty
popular on the recruiting front lately. Briscoe says he has been hearing from
"LSU, Texas A&M, Texas Tech, Tulane, Nebraska, Minnesota, Pittsburg, and a few
other schools."
While Briscoe isn't ready to make a final decision just yet, he says he does
have three favorites at the moment.
"LSU, Alabama, and Texas Tech are my top three so far," Briscoe said. "Alabama
and LSU are in the SEC and they are close to home. Texas Tech because that's
where I have an offer to at the moment."
The 6-foot-4, 290-pounder is still focused on his final high school season, and
has nothing to complain about so far.
"Oh, we're doing pretty good," Briscoe said. "We're undefeated, so we've got to
just keep it up, keep focused, and keep playing great."
Briscoe currently only holds an offer from Texas Tech.

JOHNSON KEEPING UP WITH THE RED RAIDERS
League City (Texas) Clear Springs wide receiver and Red Raider commit Marcus
Johnson is still receiving plenty of attention from programs around the region,
but remains solid with Tech.
"I still get letters and stuff from a lot of schools but I barely even look at
them any more. It really has all died down for me after I committed and told
people that I was done. A lot of rumors flying around, not much truth behind
them."
Johnson hasn't attended one of Tech's games this season -- he had planned to
visit for the Texas A&M game, but his plans fell through -- but that hasn't
stopped him from keeping up with his future teammates.
"I have been watching them; they are so close in the past two games. I am
actually watching a replay of the K State game right now. They have an explosive
offense and I can not wait to watch them play Oklahoma this weekend."
