The Red Raider Confidential is sponsored by Cardinal's Sports Center. If you
need Texas Tech gear or Under Armour apparel, the best place to go in our
opinion is Cardinal's -- they have several convenient locations in Lubbock, a
store in Plano and a fantastic selection on
their website.

Cardinal's Sports Center is holding a huge sidewalk sale this week. It started today and runs through Sunday -- 9 a.m. to 8 p.m. through Saturday, 12 p.m. - 7 p.m. on Sunday.

They have shoes marked down from 40 to 60 percent and apparel marked down 50 percent. There are also raffle prizes every day.

If you're in Lubbock this weekend, be sure to stop by and check out not only their sidewalk sale but also their new store.

Scouting Jordan Goodman

We caught up with Rivals.com basketball recruiting analyst Eric Bossi late this
week and got his thoughts on Texas Tech's pickup of Jacksonville (Fla.)
Arlington Country Day forward Jordan Goodman.

"I think with Jordan Goodman, you're talking about a guy that has proven over
the years that he could put the ball in the basket and that he has the potential
to do so at a pretty high level. There's no question that he's a kid who has the
talent to play in the Big 12 and to be a pretty good player in the Big 12.

"I think the question with Jordan going forward and has been for a little while
is how stable he's going to be. He's been to several different high schools,
he's committed to now his third program after Georgetown and Rutgers. So you
always have to wonder could it happen again? It's impossible not to wonder that.

"I think he's a kid who has good size, is kind of a combo forward, he can really
shoot the ball. He's an instinctive scorer around the basket. He's got the tools
on the offensive end. Now it's just a matter of filling out his frame,
dedicating himself to playing 100 percent all the time and good things could
really happen for him."

Crawley Talks More About Prunty, Glasgow

In our update on Washington (D.C.) H.D. Woodson cornerback Kenneth
Crawley
yesterday, he noted that he has "formed a pretty good
relationship" with Chad Glasgow and Robert Prunty.
This didn't make it into the story because of space constraints, but Crawley
went into a little bit more detail on that subject.

"We talk about personal things, grades, girls, friends, family," Crawley said.
"All of those are things I didn't expect to ever talk to a college coach whose
sole job is to get me to come sign and play with them at that school. These guys
care about me. They want me to be more than just a college football player and
just a athlete.

"We talk about (Prunty's) family and how they have adjusted to Lubbock and how
they don't get many days off in recruiting. Coach (Tommy) Tuberville
works them all year long and that is what it takes to be the best you can be.

"We are friends on Facebook, too. So when I need to talk about anything I can
shoot them a message and 99 percent of the time I get a response in the next
hour or so. They tell me to keep up the good work and I could be one of the few
lock down corners in the NCAA after I graduate High School. It is a great
relationship."

Bynum Shuts Things Down

College Station (Texas) A&M Consolidated defensive tackle J.J. Bynum
has completely shut down his recruitment following his commitment to Texas Tech
in May.

"I cut off all ties with everyone that I have talked to in the past," he said.
"When a coach emails me or anything like that I make sure to let them know that
I am done with recruitment and am going to be a Red Raider."

The 6-foot-3, 275-pound prospect also played a role in bringing another standout
into the Red Raider fold.

"I was talking to Anthony Smith a lot before he committed and
we talked about how much fun we would have on the d-line together at Tech,"
Bynum said. "We are both considered by some coaches as the best tackles in our
district so why not come to the same school and help move this team to the next
level. I'm glad he made the decision to join us and we are looking forward to
the future."

Smith Still Hearing From Tech

Waco (Texas) Reicher tight end Jordan Smith is still sitting at
two offers -- Air Force and Kansas -- as he heads into the second half of
summer. The 6-foot-5, 220-pound prospect is still hearing from Tech and Texas
A&M, but it seems like an offer from one of those programs may still be a ways
away.

"I talk to Tech, it is kind of a waiting process right now with them," he said.
"They are not sure if they are going to offer me because they are not sure about
a tight end in this class and they have some other guys in mind. I haven't
talked to A&M in a while. They are not going to take a tight end in this class,
but if they lose out on some guys late in the year they talked about bringing me
in but I am not going to hold my breath for that."

Reicher is also fielding interest from Arkansas, Baylor, Missouri, Oklahoma
State and Purdue -- he plans to visit the Razorbacks, Bears and Tigers later
this summer.

Mills Focused On Depth Charts

Desoto (Texas) cornerback Jalen Mills has indicated that the
chance to see the field early will likely play large role in his recruitment.

"I'd like the chance to make an impact early for somebody if possible. I know it
will take a lot of work to do that wherever I go," he said. "I'm looking for a
team that's going to have speed and play fast. I want to be on a team that's
going to be able to give it their all every time they're out there together."

The 6-foot-, 180-pounder has heard that speed is on the way to Lubbock.

"Coach P has talked to me about what they're putting together with their
classes. They're looking for guys with football speed and they're going to play
a defense that lets you react fast," Mills said. "[La'Darius Newbold] has told
me about their defensive coaches and he really likes them. I'm going to try and
visit so I have a chance to meet all of them."

Mills currently holds offers from Baylor, Colorado State, Houston, Iowa State,
Memphis, Nevada, North Texas, Pitt, Tulsa, UTEP, and Virginia.

Tshimanga Still Listening

North Richland Hills (Texas) Richland inside linebacker Jeremiah
Tshimanga
has been committed to Oklahoma State since March, but is
still planning official visits for the fall.

"Oh yeah, I'll definitely take my visits to see some schools. I honestly don't
have a final plan yet for who they're going to be with," he said. "Oklahoma
State, of course. I'll probably go to Oregon to check it out. I haven't made any
plans yet, though."

Tshimanga has not spent any time on visits of any kind this summer. In an effort
to graduate in December, school work has been his priority.

"I wanted the chance to get to the next level early and it was a goal for me to
accomplish, so this summer has been about school."

Tech is making an effort to get the 6-foot-3, 226-pounder to Lubbock.

"Oh yeah, I talk to them quite a bit. I actually saw them not too long ago when
they came to my school in the spring. I've been able to talk to Coach
(Sonny) Cumbie
a few times and he's a nice guy. He's been on the field
so he knows what playing on that level is like. We've got a good relationship."

"They want me to visit out there so they might be one of the visits I take. I'm
going to wait for a little while before finalizing that list."

As for the status of his commitment?

"I've been committed to Oklahoma State and that's who I stand with for now. I'm
going to take some visits, but now I'm still with Oklahoma State."

Tshimanga holds offers from Arizona, Arkansas, Baylor, Michigan, Texas A&M,
Texas Tech, and Utah.
