Let's go over the things we have working against us now that we haven't encountered in the last decade in a half or so. Feel free to add thoughts.
All this to say, we can't compare today's results with years past. It is much harder now and our coach was put in a very tough spot when got here. I mean, you think Tuberville bolts at dinner if he is confident in what he has the next few years? We may not be thrilled at the outlook at multiple 7 or 8 win seasons, but those 7 or 8 win seasons are a lot harder to come by than they used to be.
- Baylor - They are rolling and taking great players from the state. Most importantly, they used to be a guaranteed win.
- TCU - We have no advantage over them in recruiting anymore now that they are in a legit conference and they are very well coached. Also another team we didn't have to play every year.
- Texas A&m moving to the SEC and opening up more doors for the SEC to take in state recruits.
- We have lost the schematic advantage we used to have by running the spread. Almost every team does this now.
- We have no bye week and every team has to play each other. There is no hiding. Not to mention we gave up home field advantage over Baylor every other year. We are playing behind the 8 ball every year with our schedule.
- We only play 2 "cupcake" non-conference games as opposed to 4.
