In 4 of our 5 losses this season, we only needed one defensive stop to either win or have a chance win the game, but couldn’t get it done. All of those were proceeded by a decision to punt or kick a field goal on 4th down.
Wells doesn’t seem to recognize when his defense is gassed and can’t get a stop. I’m not sure exactly what it says about the man, but he seems to lack the understanding or the balls it takes to coach in this league.
Personally Wells’ decisions in these crucial moments bother me a whole lot more than our defensive inadequacies and our special teams gaffes. You simply can’t be a pussy and win in the Big 12.
