In the spring of 1993, the Texas Tech Lady Raiders got their first win ever in Austin it the first matchup of the season between Tech and the Longhorns. That was a big first among several firsts that season -like beating Texas twice in one season.
The Lady Raiders lost to a powerhouse Stanford team early in non-conference play. They lost a game on the road to Utah which was uncharacteristic. The Lady Raiders lost one home game in conference play. After that game they never lost again that season, even avenging their one home loss.
Tech won the conference tournament. They stormed through the NCAA tournament beating the #1 team in the semi-final at the Final Four.
1993 is a long time ago. But a Texas Tech team has accomplished something no one thought possible before.
