Division 1 Teams with a sub 4.00 Team ERA:
2018: 66
2019: 45
2021: 38

Division 1 Teams with 300+ Walks allowed
2018: 13

2024: 30 (still in progress!)
Division 1 Teams with 100+ HR
2018: 2

2024: 25 (still in progress!)
Division 1 Teams with a team BA above .300

There has been a surge in offensive production and a decline in pitching performance across the board over the last 3 seasons.
IMO, it comes down to a combination of factors:
1. Juiced balls
2. Hot bats
3. Umpire zones have shrunken with the introduction of Trackman reports and conferences holding umpires accountable to strike zone accuracy
4. Pitchability across the board has diminished
5. Transfer portal has consolidated more talent in D1 baseball w/ the best D2/D3 guys transferring to D1's, and the shortened MLB Draft keeping more elite players in college.
6. Older players on the field due to portal, shortened MLB Draft, & covid eligibility trickle down
7. Opponent scouting reports have gotten much more detailed w/ new technology
Although, you'd think that points 5, 6, & 7 would work in favor of the pitchers too 🤷♂️
