Roster as it currently stands:
1. Davide Moretti - 6'2"
2. Kyler Edwards - 6'3"
3. DeShawn Corprew - 6'5"
4. Kevin McCullar - 6'6"
5. Jahmius Ramsey - 6'4"
6. Terrance Shannon - 6'6"
7. Andrei Savrasov - 6'7"
8. Khalid Thomas - 6'9"
9. Russel Tchewa - 7'0"
10. Clarence Nadolny - 6'3"
11. TJ Holyfield - 6'8"
12. Josh Mballa - 6'7"
That leaves 1 spot.
Current Target:
1. Tyreek Smith - 6'8"
It is possible that Beard lands Tyreek and goes into next year with this roster. However, we all know Beard is constantly working to put the best roster together and has no issue with helping someone on the team find a new home to open up a spot. The obvious candidate is still Josh Mballa.
It is also possible that Tyreek Smith commits to Houston, LSU, or someone else, leaving that 13th spot still open.
So what does Beard do? Although most feel that the front court is the team's weakness, Beard has shown interest in adding another guard to this team (Admon Gilder, RJ Hampton). Looking through lists of Grad Transfers, the vast majority of quality players have committed to a new team. Further, there are very few big men Grad Transfers left who could contribute at this level. There are some decent guards who are still uncommitted:
1. Jaevin Cumberland - Oakland (MI) - 17.2 PPG, 2.9 RPG, 3.5 APG, 42.5 FG%
- Recently added on twitter by Coach Burg, but will likely go to Cincy where his cousin Jarron Cumberland is the star of the team.
2. Donte Fitzpatrick-Dorsey - Tennessee State - 14.3 PPG, 5.4 RPG, 1.5 APG, 44.6 %
3. Brandon Kamga - High Point - 13.8 PPG, 5.2 RPB, 1.8 APG, 43.8%
4. Isaiah Moss - Iowa - 9.2 PPG, 2.9 RPG, 1.8 APG, 39.9%
5. Kareem South - TAMU-CC - 13.8 PPG,5.1 RPG, 2 APG, 41.3%
6. Nic Thomas - Norfolk St - 14.3 PPG, 3.3 RPG, 1.6 APG, 37.4%
7. Derryck Thorton - USC -7.7 PPG, 2.8 RPG, 4.3 APG, 38.2%
8. Jonah Mathews - USC - 12.6 PPG, 2.9 RPG, 2.2 APG, 43.1% (Per @aliefallstar)
9. Ryan Woolridge - UNT- 11.7 PPG, 5.9 RPG, 4.8 APG, 47%
- Count me in as intrigued. Good numbers across the board and is from Mansfield. Good article about Woolridge. Just announced his transfer 5/3 and is supposedly talking with Minnesota, OU, and several Texas schools. Wants to stay close to home.
The only real decent big man Grad Transfer I see left is Jalone Friday from ACU. He averaged 13+ PPG the last 3 seasons and has decent block numbers, but was kicked off the team midseason. Not sure what happened there.
I wouldn't be surprised to see Tech finished with Grad Tranfers. They could take a JUCO or foreigner later in the process. Although @B. Golan hinted there may be further Grad Transfer targets.
