Good morning, sir. I have a student/athlete who will be a senior this season. He will be valedictorian of his class and has already passed Calculus II at New Mexico State with an A. He's a pretty bright kid, and is a very hard worker in school. He also is our starting QB, OLB, and plays basketball and baseball (no future in athletics, though).
Anyway, I got a text from him the other day asking me if I would help him get into UT. He wants to double-major in Aerospace and Mechanical Engineering. I know Tech doesn't have an Aerospace Engineering program, but I like to point my students towards Tech as much as possible. It's hard to get them away from the state schools when most of them can go for free with the lottery scholarship. What do I need to do to get Tech to start sending him some stuff? Something that might get him interested in the Petroleum Engineering program. I'd rather not send him to UT...and that town is way too liberal for him. Thanks!
My email is lhowell@hatchschools.net if you'd rather continue the conversation there.
