I am very appreciative and proud of White Settlement ISD Athletic Director and Brewer High School Head Football Coach, Todd Peterman.

At 6pm this evening he is hosting all 9th-12th grade football players at the BHS Field house to start and change the conversation on racism in the USA. Our boys start summer workouts tomorrow and he feels strongly that this is something that needs to be talked about and through.

BHS is 43.8% white, 40.6% hispanic, 9.4% black, 3.9% mixed, 1.5% asian and 49.3% of the student body is on free/reduced lunch. It is a very diverse student body and faculty.

Coach Peterman has invited a 63-year-old African American pastor, African American, Hispanic, and Caucasian Police Officers, and he has asked for me to come be the white pastor, to facilitate the dialogue with these young men.

I am humbled and excited to have this opportunity. I am praying that we can all do better. That we can listen and learn and not just listen to respond. That we will set down the talking points and start focusing on and leveraging the lifting points.

Any other school districts doing this?
