Amsterdam over Thanksgiving week.

So I found some cheap flights and am headed to Amsterdam with my wife and 10 year old son for 6 days over Thanksgiving. What do we do? Stay in Amsterdam or heat out to Bruges, Luxembourg or Duesseldorf. We are ok being in the road but would like to keep it laidback and make sure we experience where ever we go.

Any words of wisdom?
