My apologies to the OP of the thread talking about Fayetteville. Debated on dropping in there but felt it was worth posting a new thread from the perspective of someone who has been there vs. taking a friends word. in the end his friend is on point with many of his/her suggestions.
My wife was born and raised in Fayetteville a block from the stadium. I've been up there what feels like a 100 times in the past 8 years. I feel I have a good perspective of the city looking through an outsiders eyes. I'm 6'2, 190, can bench 225 3x and run a 5.2 40 if that helps build credibility. Scored a 23 on the Wonderlic as well.
Friday/Friday Night: Golf at StoneBridge. Nice course with some topography we don't experience in Texas outside the hill country. Immediately after you can get both a good meal and drinks at each of the following -- Farrall's (high end sports bar) Theo's and Bordino's (nice restaurants but you don't want to stay there all night). You can valet at either Theo's or Bordino's. Anywhere else and you are fighting for parking which is a b*tch on Dickson Street. Following a nice dinner head over to Brewski's if you are a craft beer fan (warning..very smoky), 21st Amendment (you can't beat the upstairs outdoor patio but limited craft beers) if you don't mind a crowd or Dickson Street Pub if you want good beer in a more casual environment. Every place I just mentioned is within a block of one another so hit up all three.
Saturday morning: the best brunch is at Cafe Rue Orleans. A hole in the wall and you'll pull up questioning your decision as well as where to park but if you like brunch with a bit of a cajun seafood twist there is no better place. Straight out of NOLa. A terrific alternative is Common Grounds. The service is hit or miss but as far as good brunch food (order the sausage balls) combined with mimosas, bloody marys, coffee and location you can't beat it.
Saturday Lunch: go to Farrall's, Hugo's or Hammontrees. Hugo's is a small hole in the wall in the basement of a building with great burgers, fries, etc. There is always a line and a wait that's worth 20 minutes but not more. Hammontrees is classic and gourmet grilled cheese in the heart of Dickson. A quick exit and you are surrounded by all the bars on Dickson.
Saturday afternoon: tailgate then get to game. See separate thread I'll post in the next couple days
Post Red Raider Victory: I'm thinking optimistically here..go to 21st Amendment (see above). It's the best place to be after drinks and either celebrating or trying to remedy the ills of a brutal annihilation. Nice place, decent beers, open patio (which will probably be packed), upbeat music. It's on Dickson and you can always bounce to several other places if crowded or you want a quick food joint(Chipotle, Jimmy Johns, Hog Hause Brewery).
For those that have never been. Be prepared to strongly reconsider Tech as the college with the best looking girls.
I'll follow this thread over the next week and provide some feedback if there are any questions as well as provide some information on parking.
