My girlfriend came into town this past weekend for her first Texas Tech game in Lubbock. I wanted to show her around to the tailgate scene, a steakhouse and other Lubbock landmarks to make her impression as perfect as can be. Other than seeing how the other side lives, one of my girlfriend's motivations for coming down was visiting her brother; who is now a Freshman at Tech. As I look back at this memorable weekend, it is her brother's, not her experience that I remember.

I realized after talking to my likely future brother-in-law that this was only his fourth game a real Tech fan (he had no allegiance before coming to Tech).

Wow.

I have been a Tech fan only about a decade but this TCU game was one of the most memorable games that I have ever been at. I know I will remember it for years to come. But this was just his fourth game! I began to think about our game against UT in 2006, one of my first games but most memorable heartbreaks. This was his UT in 2006. And what a better way to say welcome to being a Tech fan, right?

But we all have our own UT in 2006. I think all of our most memorable games are the ones when we were enrolled at Texas Tech. I know those victories and defeats, even when outweighed by more recent ones, can never be compared to.

As much as it sucks that we lost, it's also going to be a special memory. That loss can fuel hate against TCU for a whole new generation like past losses has done for us. I just wanted to bring up another perspective on this weekend; one that we don't get to hear from or think about very often. I also wanted to hear from you all. Is there a loss early or later on when you were at Tech that weighs heavier than others?

Also, rule #1 from this weekend, you savages:
