(this thread is piggy backing off the last truly dominant thread from yesterday - it caused me to dredge up an ongoing question no one has been able to answer for me)

How did we walk into Norman and fall totally flat on our face? That team had walked through an extremely tough schedule and been dominant on both sides of the ball. They were junk yard dog tough and didn't buckle under no matter who they faced. They simply went out and executed and competed from opening whistle to final gun.

So what happened that night? Was Leach so locked in and certain that he refused to adapt to what he was faced with? Were Crab and Harrell simply not well? Was the OL too fatigued to take on a talented D?

And what about the defense? They had weathered Nebraska, UT, and osu...all quality offenses without giving in or capitulating. Why did this thing just completely cave in? It was such an outlier game from a season that was our greatest ever.

Even now, it's like a gut punch to consider just how devastating that one night was for the football program. As bright a shining star as the Crab Grab game continues to be in my memory, this game is a deep dark wound that is totally unexplainable. Anyone got a clue as to what led to this devastating event?
