LUBBOCK, Texas – It's time to turn the page and look ahead to the 101st season of Texas Tech Football, a season which already in January has generated more offseason buzz than any season before as Joey McGuire prepares for his fourth season as the Red Raiders head coach in 2025.
The Texas Tech Athletics ticket office launched its season ticket renewals earlier this month with a deadline of Feb. 28. It's an inventory anticipated to sell out once again following a 2024 season that the Red Raiders ranked second in the Big 12 in average attendance (58,623), an average that was just shy of breaking the all-time average home attendance record (58,934) at Jones AT&T Stadium.
Classes began for the 2025 Red Raiders on Wednesday, a semester that was officially kicked off the night before as McGuire welcomed all 114 players on the 2025 spring roster for its first team meeting. The group will now embark on an 8-week winter workout period that leads into the first spring football practice on March 10.

- 114 players make up the 2025 spring roster.
- 87 players return this spring from the 2024 team.
- 27 newcomers joined the program in time for the spring semester.
- Nine are freshmen who graduated early from high school.
- Eight of the nine attended a Texas High School while one attended a high school in Oklahoma.
- Summer: There are 10 players expected to join the Red Raider football team in the summer who were announced in December as members of the 2025 Signing Day Class.
- 18 are transfers who previously attended other collegiate programs, including eight from "Power Four" programs.
- 10 of the 18 transfers are seniors.
- Six of the 18 transfers are juniors.
- Two of the 18 transfers are sophomores.
- Nine of the 18 transfers have previously earned first-, second-, or third-team all-conference honors at their previous colleges during their respective careers.
- 87 players call Texas home.
- 25 players come from a collection of 15 other states within the United States; Florida and Oklahoma led the count with three from each state.
- Two players are international, hailing from Australia and Canada, respectively.
- 42 of the 69 players who earned a letter at Texas Tech in 2024 will return to the 2025 spring roster.
- Offense: 13 of the 28 letterwinners will return to the 2025 spring roster.
