I meant to start this thread earlier in the week but my new job has me swamped right now. Early mornings and late nights but that's to be expected during tax time. That has unfortunately kept me off this site for the last week. Right now our men's and women's teams are looking to cap their season off with a monster showing at the national meet but will need a lot of help from other schools underperforming to have a chance at a top 3 finish, much less winning a title. Although, the men do have a very outside shot if EVERYTHING goes our way this weekend. The running events start at 3:30 EST tomorrow and head into Saturday for the remainder of the finals. The multi-events and field events start before that but not sure if they will be aired on TV.

Anywho, this is how I have it tallied for the top teams based on performances coming into the meet. Keep in mind, this will absolutely change as the meet progresses.

Men's
1) SoCal - 43
2) Arky - 42
3) Aub - 34
4) TAMU - 32
5) Wash - 28
6) TTU - 20

Women's
1) Arky - 45
2) BYU - 40
3) UGA - 39
4) Ore - 36
5) Wash - 28
6) Ill - 27
7) LSU - 21
8) TTU - 19

I would like to point out that both Washington's men and women have a real chance at winning the whole thing if all of their qualifiers put up PBs. They have a bunch of potential points just outside of the top 8 performances this season. I also am sad that Trey Wilson didn't get into this meet. I truly believe he could have gotten us some points if he could've improved on his performance from last year when he was a true freshman. I may be biased as he's currently my favorite men's T&F athlete for our program.

Below are the athletes we have qualified and where their seed is going into the meet.

Men's
60M - Shawn Brown (5th); Malachi Snow (10th)
400M - Shaemar Uter (16th)
60H - Malachi Snow (2nd); Antoine Andrews (6th)
4x400 - Crawford, Bour, Garcia, Uter (8th)
HJ - BJ Jennings (15th)
PV - Sean Gribble (5th)
TJ - Stacy brown (11th); Garison Breeding (14th)

I'm hopeful the men can get some outstanding performances and increase our chances at a title. Everything would have to go right but I think you can see Shawn, Malachi (both 60M and 60H), Antoine and Uter all place much higher than their seeding and getting us some much needed points. Stacy Brown is boom or bust. He could either get a PB or scratch all 3 jumps. He's probably the most interesting TJ I've ever seen in the scarlet and black. Probably wouldn't be enough for a team title still but anything can happen. What separates 1st from 16th in the national title meet is extremely negligible.

Women's
60M - Success Umukoro(7th)
200 - Brianna Howard (7th)
800 - Fanny Arendt (16th)
60H - Naomi Krebs (5th)
HJ - Temitope Adeshina (3rd); Evelyn Lavielle (11th)
TJ - Tamiah Washington (9th), Suzan Ogunleye (11th)
WT - Shelby Frank (3rd)

As you can see from the women's team, there's a lot of potential for additional points if we get some ladies to overperform. I think Shelby has a great chance of getting 1st or 2nd while Tamiah can get some points. This is where having Ruta injure herself really hurts our championship aspirations. I would also look at Brianna and Fanny to possibly turn some heads. Those two are really running well right now and it wouldn't surprise me to see them set some PBs this meet.
