Before the official postseason starts today in OKC. Just a couple things I wanted to get some other opinions on.
Is the lefty/dominant reliever one of Tadlock's biggest strengths as a recruiter/developer?
- Since Tadlock took over, it seems like each and every year he has a relatively unknown guy step up and become THE STOPPER out of the pen. Jacob Patterson, Parker Mushinski, Dane Haveman, the Dusek-Shetter combo, Corey Taylor, Ty Damron, Taylor Floyd, the list goes on.
- These guys typically go under the radar, but it seems like TTU always has someone they can depend on trotting out of the bullpen. McMillon has become a massive weapon over the last three weeks as well.
Cameron Warren was the Big 12 player of the year.
- It was discussed ad nauseam in the other thread, but including Davis Wendzel as a league player of the year when he missed 11/24 conference games is a traveshamockery, and borderline laughable. For some reason, the conference found that only Eric Guitierrez was deserving of winning the award outright from TTU. Hunter Hargrove had to split with Skoug. Jung has to split with Wendzel for some reason.
- TTU did not have a POY winner since Joe Dillon in 1997, then Tim Tadlock shows up, and aRed Raider has won the award 3 of the last 4 years. Pretty crazy.
- Since Wendzel won the award despite only appearing in 54% of conference games, one would think that the entire season was taken into account. Let's take a gander at Cameron Warren's senior season.
Stats
.354 Average (2nd) Wendzel - .385
65 RBI (1st) Wendzel - 39
13 HR (2nd) Wendzel - 8
24 Conf games Wendzel - 13
Definitely an interesting decision.
Connor Queen is your ERA leader
- Nothing else to really say here. Really happy for a kid that got hit pretty hard last season. He's come in and eaten some really important innings for you.
What do you want to see out of TTU in OKC?
- Give me two wins. Somehow, some way. Then rest your arms. Hell, this lineup could even beat up on some teams while you get some other guys down the roster some innings.
2 hours til first pitch.
