I’m sure someone out there has done the research or put pencil to paper but what is the difference in revenue for Lubbock and or Texas Tech when we host an 11 am game or a Thursday night game compared to a 2:30 or 7:00 pm kickoff? Just looking at it from my standpoint, as of now three of our six conference home games will have been kicked off at a goofy time slot. I would guess that the later on a Saturday the game gets kicked off the more money is generated by Tech and the surrounding area. Looking at the Texas game in two weeks how was that decision made to kick off at 11am? Baylor/TCU play at 2:30 on FOX, KState/OSU on ESPN at 7 are the only two games that are even worth mentioning that weekend. Maybe it’s just my state of Texas bias but how are either one of those two other game drawing more eyes to the tv set than our game that weekend? Shouldn’t the small 12 take into account we have already screwed them with the Thursday night home game this year and gave them an 11 am game already? We have this stupid schedule that OU and Texas gave to us a few years back where the “big” two somehow got scheduled to come to Lubbock on the same year. Instead of having them separated like it use to be. I’ve always been of the feeling that 11am kick off negate about a 1/3 of the home field advantage you should get at a real kick off time. I know we haven’t done our part on the field this year to have many complaints, but before this conference dissolves I would like to see us host all of our conference games on Saturday and in the later afternoon.
