20 years ago today Texas Tech upset 5th ranked Texas A&M 21-19. Spike Dykes moved Sammy Morris to tailback and completely caught A&M off guard. This was a huge upset at the time, derailing Aggie's hopes of competing for a national title.
Why do I remember this so well? That was the night I married my wife, an Aggie. You can forget about pics. just know she's hot. We were married at a church in Plano. The vast majority of the wedding party was affiliated with Tech or A&M. The only exceptions were my Longhorn sister-in-law and my Baylor Bear sister. Most of the roughly 150 or so in attendance were Tech/A&M affiliated. The Priest was told in advance of the Tech/A&M marriage and announced the 1st quarter score during the ceremony, 7-0 A&M. We listened to the game on the radio during the drive between the wedding and reception. Once the game was complete, the DJ announced the final score thanks to my Red Raider uncle (GaryF on this board). Somebody in attendance, and to this day I don't know who, was a talk show host on Sunday mornings for the ticket. He discussed our wedding during his show the following morning. I didn't hear it but several of my friends did. Needless to say it was a memorable night for a variety of reasons. I can say with a smile I'm happily married after 20 years.
