Looking for a stat that says when, if ever, a season opener penciled in #2 starter QB, has beaten Texas.

Has it ever happened? Just looking back at QB’s who have won games against UT, and that list is TTU legendary.

As as fan of our Raiders for over half of the University's history, and reflecting back on last year's win over Iowa State and today's win over the Evil Empire, IMHO I was so happy after the ISU win for the Players. For all they went thru last year, winning that game and becoming bowl eligible was so awesome. Again, I was so happy for the Players.

Today, I am so happy for Us Fans. Its been a long time since we felt that any game we had at the Jones, was winnable. We didn't win them all, but we always felt we had a chance. Teams didn't like coming to Lubbock. As low as we all felt leaving the stadium after last year's K-State game, leaving today it feels so great feeling that we are heading back to where we were years ago.

Just my thoughts.

It’s taken 40 minutes to cross UMC. This is the slowest I’ve ever seen it. The Parkway seems to have fives lights for every one with UMC. Now it seems like the sensor isn’t working at all.

Was with my older brother “Tech Sr at the time” 1999 vs A&M, after that game I was a Red Raider for life, never missed going to or watching a game since that day.. I hope the game today is like that for all the students and fans that haven’t seen Tech win a meaningful sold out game at the Jones before.. this was a big win on so many levels. WreckEm!

Trey Wolff, Reggie Pearson, Donovan Smith and Myles Price addressed the media after the big win:

- Trey Wolff said the first field goal he knew was going to happen based on time and how the offense drove down the field. He said he was confident in the entire machine of the field goal team. He nailed it in regulation but knew not to look ahead until the final whistle of the game. Then the second one happened and it was time to celebrate.

- Pearson said a lot of the first half he felt they weren't communication too well. They made some mistakes and just weren't doing what they were supposed to do for each other. At halftime, they talked and made adjustments to get it together in the second half. They told the offense during the comeback that they would do everything to get them the ball.

- Reggie said they knew Xavier Worthy was Texas' big deep threat target. He knew that especially when he snatched that interception. He said 90% of the time on that specific play design they go to Worthy. He read it and made the play.

- How much was of a fight was it for Reggie on the fumble: "Oh, it wasn't a fight." He said there was a lineman right next to him but he knew he had to just jump on the ball.

- Trey said coach McGuire's "what's next?" mentality helped him mentally in moving forward and not looking back on the misses. He said whether it's a good or bad moment it's all about what's next. He didn't linger on the kick out of bounds this game and just moved forward.

- Trey talked about his recent marriage a bit. Biggest takeaways there is she's a Red Raider and they met at Tech. Congrats to him.

- Myles Price said he and the team knew they couldn't let one of the best crowds at the Jones down. They knew they had to come up with the win. He admitted that he knows they've dropped games like this in the past. But they're past doing that. This team will fight.

- Myles said it shouldn't have gone to overtime but "it be like that sometimes."

- Myles said they all knew to go make a play regardless of what happened before.

- Myles talked about the crowd and thanked them. This is the first time he played in front of a sold out crowd. The energy made them want to go out and win for the fans.

- Myles said the coaching staff going for it on fourth down on manageable situations gives the offense a sense of pride. He knows they trust them to make the play. He said he would be going for it too if he was coaching.

- Donovan said it starts in practice in preparation. He said they did a great job doing that all week. That transitioned to the field.

- Coach McGuire told them to "take the logo off the helmet" when talking about a hyped Texas game. Donovan said they study film and everything the same for each opponent. But, when the logo is there you do know the teams you want to really beat, Donovan said. Texas is one of them especially from last year with people still posting that on social media.

- Donovan said he knew he was going to Trey Cleveland on the offsides, free play before the snap. He was taking the shot regardless of the penalty.

- Mason Tharp and Baylor Cupp are versatile. Donovan said they've developed really well and today they showed their a threat on the offense as well just like the running backs and receivers.

- Donovan said his dad would be mad at him on the third down run when he slipped before the end zone. He said they knew they had to finish as a team though and took care of the ball until the Trey Wolff finish.
