Pretty lengthy story here on Bailey Zappe and his sudden impact with the Patriots (Belichick really likes him). But major parts of the story are about Zappe's relationship with Kittley and how that developed into the quarterback he is.
Among the many knee-jerk reactions Saturday from the Kittley-should-walk-home crowd despite the 527 yards and 32 first downs with a freshman making his first college start on the road at the No, 7 team in the country was the jewel that Zappe made Kittley.
Bailey Zappe's ONLY offer out of Victoria East HS was to Houston Baptist. That was it. Credit goes to him obviously but he shares a huge amount with the guy who coached up essentially a walk-on to one who would set NCAA season records with 5,987 passing yards and 62 touchdown passes, get drafted in the fourth round, and is making his presence known with the Patriots. The idea that Zappe made Kittley is beyond ludicrous.
And it gets pretty darn exciting to think what Kittley can do with Behren Morton over the next 3 1/2 years.
