Harrison Butker (Will go very well, clearly.)

Here is his FULL commencement speech at Benedictine College, a Catholic school.

The National Media is absolutely blowing him up and the NFL already released a statement.

Someone tell me what he said at any point would be against family values, building a life, or anything of the sort?

I just don't remember an NFL statement after Ray Rice caved that girl's face in.

Make it make sense!?

Jace Jung

I kinda assumed that we would see Jace in the Futures Game today, however he was not added to the team. He was on the DL until a few days ago and returned last night with 2 HRs and 3 RBI for the Toledo Mud Hens the AAA club for the Tigers. Detroit is 45-50 and 13 games behind Cleveland in the Central so he may get a chance due to injury at 2nd base this year or next. The Ranger SS at A ball Walcott is there.

ERCOT says Texas could face rolling blackouts in August

Energy demand in Texas could dangerously approach the state’s total electrical supply this summer, leading to a 16% chance of an electric grid emergency and a 12% chance of rolling blackouts in August, according to a new report from the Electric Reliability Council of Texas.

The report found that energy demand throughout the state of Texas could reach as high as 78,000 megawatts in August. That’s just below the state’s projected supply of nearly 83,000 megawatts for August.

However, the report details a 16% chance that operating energy reserves could drop below 2,500 megawatts, and a 12% that reserves could dip below 1,500 megawatts — which could potentially trigger rolling blackouts to prevent a statewide grid failure.

Ed Hirs, an energy fellow at the University of Houston, said he’s skeptical of the accuracy of ERCOT’s projection. He said the projection relies on the state’s energy sources operating as expected, which may not be the case as temperatures continue to rise. According to Hirs, the increasing heat could cause issues at some power plants “because their coolant systems become overwhelmed.”

“Keep in mind, ERCOT doesn’t operate these plants. ERCOT can call them into service, but does not invest, does not maintain the power plants,” Hirs said. “To a certain extent, it’s a bit like herding cats.”

Hirs believes ERCOT tends to “undershoot on their demand forecasts for the peaks.”

“I think we’ll blow past 78,000 megawatts many times this summer,” he said.

Cardinals changing name to QuarterFour

Not sure if posted.

LUBBOCK, Texas — According to the store, Cardinals Sport Center will immediately change its historic name to QuarterFour.

This change is not just a rebrand but a transformation that encompasses all the store does, according to the sports center. QuarterFour will continue to offer the best brands and expand its offerings. The customs department will remain the place to get decorated apparel, trophies and more. The Coffee Bar still serves favorites in a relaxing and friendly space. QuarterFour will continue to be locally owned and operated by Brad Wyatt.

“In sports, it’s the most important time of every game. It’s all about how you finish. With QuarterFour, every customer is the most important customer we serve, and we will finish strong for you in whatever we do,” said Wyatt. “For 70 years, we’ve been locally owned and a staple in this community. We have a new name, but we are the same folks. We look forward to showing you everything we do at QuarterFour.”
Not sure about that new name.

Cheating Spouse Stories

Was talking to a college buddy this weekend. Haven't spoke to him in a few years, or since he finalized his divorce, so we had a lot of catching up to do. Anyway, gave me an idea for a thread, as we seem to have a lot of folks here that could work for Farmer's Insurance, because they know a thing or two because they've seen a thing or two.

ITT post stories you've lived/heard of spouses cheating. I will share my buddy mentioned above's, story below.

Friend of mine married his college sweetheart shortly after graduation. He was our starting Left Tackle for 3 years. Big dude/frame. Anyway, they move off and start grad school and he starts working out to shed all his OL weight. Joins a gym, then turns into a crossfit guy. Fast forward a few months, and its duck season. He tells his wife that he is heading back to Arkansas to duck hunt with another college buddy of ours. He leaves to go on this hunting trip... but doesnt go on the hunting trip. He had started seeing a crossfit chick on the side, and I guess felt like he needed to go on a trip to Cancun with her whiile his wife was back at the house thinking he was freezing his ass off in a duck blind. Few days go by, and his wife is still thinking he is in Arkansas. Then she gets a call from credit card company saying there was a charge on the card in Mexico. She gets curious, so she calls the friend that is supposed to be hosting the duck hunt.. he had no idea what she was talking about/that her husband was supposed to be down there hunting. Anyway, she does some sleuthing and figures out most of what is going on. She had all my buddy's belongings packed up and on the porch when he got home. Didn't say a word to him all weekend.. he just showed up thinking he'd pulled off the biggest trick of his life.. and now he was homeless. He and the crossfit chick lived together for a while, then he moved back home to finish grad school. He is a lawyer now. Much more book smart than common sense smart, if you ask me.
