UPDATE: Coming Back as a Sponsor- Reintroducing Myself and FranchiseCoach

It has been awhile and I am so excited that I will be re-sponsoring Ben Golani this upcoming season. Thanks @B. Golan

I have been on the board for 4 years. My goal is to help those of you in the community and to educate you.

Call 713-309-6776 or email agoldman@franchisecoach.net for a FREE consultation!

There is one problem with Corporate America, even in well paying jobs. You can't pursue your own dreams while working for someone else.

Over the past 7.5 years, I have helped 100s of people to change their life through franchise business ownership.

Our goals at FranchiseCoach.net are simple:
✔ To find out what really makes you tick so that we can connect you with the right franchise
✔ To create a model so that we can properly match you with the right opportunity
✔ To connect you with right franchise brand that has availability in your territory
✔ To give you the tools to do thorough investigation of opportunities so you can choose the right one

I went through this same process 14 years ago when investing in my franchise.

I have been an entrepreneur for a long time and many of you can relate to my experience. Many people on this board have been in similar situations. I started my entrepreneurial life at Sycamore High School in Cincinnati. My partner and I started a driveway sealing business called the “Driveway Doctors.”

This is not a bragging post. I’m sharing this because I want to share how it feels to say goodbye to a full-time job in corporate America.

My Life in Corporate America

I’ve always considered myself a “corporate refugee.” Even when I worked hard I felt empty and unsatisfied. After graduating, many of my classmates were offered positions where they would have to work more than 80 hours per week. That didn’t sound appealing.

I was short on funds and accepted a sales job for an IT consulting company in Austin, TX. Soon, I realized that Corporate America just wasn’t really right for me. The pay was low. I felt unappreciated and disrespected.

I knew that I wanted something else. I didn’t know what and how to start it. On a visit to my best friend in Atlanta, he recommended I reach out to a Franchise Consultant. I didn’t know what a Franchise Consultant was. I had nothing to lose, so I spoke to her.

When I consulted with her, we focused on finding a business with these key characteristics:

  • Scalability
  • Flexibility
  • High income potential
My franchise consultant presented three options, one of which was Vanguard Cleaning. I quickly grasped how the business operated and felt it was the ideal match for me.

My wife and I decided to purchase the master franchise license for Houston.

The American Dream Realized

I launched the business in June 2010. Although it’s been over a decade, it feels like just yesterday. The early days were tough! There was a month when I had to tap into my retirement savings to cover payroll, and personal challenges occasionally distracted me from focusing on the business. But then, things began to improve.

The business grew into a multi-million dollar enterprise, which I eventually sold to a strategic investor. This sale allowed me to diversify my investments and pursue other opportunities.

Today, I enjoy a high quality of life. I can drop my daughter off at school every morning, attend every tee ball game, and take my family on extended summer vacations. I even have the flexibility to take breaks during the day for a swim or a jog. I've truly achieved the freedom I was aiming for!

Please reach out at agoldman@franchisecoach.net if you think I can help in any way.

RELEASE: Mahomes provides $5m for SEZ

LUBBOCK, Texas – Texas Tech Athletics announced Thursday alumnus Patrick Mahomes II has provided the final gift of the historic Campaign for Fearless Champions as he and his wife Brittany have dedicated $5 million towards the $242 million South End Zone and Dustin R. Womble Football Center project.

In recognition of the gift, Texas Tech will name its soon-to-be-completed walkthrough area in the Womble Football Center in his name. The three-time Super Bowl champion will also be recognized by being the namesake for Texas Tech’s quarterback meeting room and the offensive coordinator’s office in the new South End Zone Building to Jones AT&T Stadium.

“When we first launched this campaign, Patrick was only a freshman and now it is fitting that we approach the end of the campaign with a gift of his own,” Director of Athletics Kirby Hocutt said. “We couldn’t be prouder to announce this gift from Patrick and Brittany Mahomes. We are so proud of Patrick for all he has accomplished and how he has continually supported Texas Tech on a global scale.”

In only six seasons as Kansas City’s starting quarterback, Mahomes has engineered one of the NFL’s most-dominant eras, highlighted by three Super Bowl titles in the past five years and six appearances in the AFC Championship game. The Chiefs rallied to top the San Francisco 49ers this past season in Super Bowl LVIII where Mahomes was named the Most Valuable Player for the third time already in his career. Mahomes, at only 28 years of age, is the first Red Raider in program history and only the fifth NFL quarterback all-time to win three Super Bowls.

Amid all his success on the field, Mahomes remains a fierce supporter of his alma mater. Mahomes has utilized an open weekend on the Chiefs’ schedule each of the past three seasons to support the Red Raiders, attending road games at Houston (2021) and Kansas (2023) while also returning to campus in 2022 for his induction into both the Texas Tech Hall of Fame and Ring of Honor against Baylor. He is also a frequent attendee of Texas Tech basketball and baseball events at home or on the road during the Chiefs’ offseason.

The Mahomes Gladiator logo has already become a staple for Red Raider fans since Texas Tech agreed to a 10-year partnership with adidas in July to become its new official footwear, uniform, apparel and accessory provider. As part of the partnership, adidas has released Texas Tech and Patrick Mahomes co-branded apparel featuring his signature Gladiator logo, marking the first time an adidas athlete partner’s logo has been featured on official collegiate apparel.

“There isn’t a greater ambassador for Texas Tech Athletics than Patrick Mahomes,” head coach Joey McGuire said. “He is arguably the best brand in sports, not only for his success on the field but for what he and his family do off it. Since my hiring here at Texas Tech, it’s been evident to me just how much Patrick truly loves this university and football program, and this gift further emphasizes that. On behalf of our entire program, we can’t thank Patrick and Brittany enough for the impact they are making on our student-athletes and the future of Texas Tech Football.”

Mahomes’ gift pushes Texas Tech’s fundraising efforts to $115 million for the south end zone and Womble Football Center project, surpassing the athletics department’s initial goal of $100 million. Texas Tech will celebrate further details regarding The Campaign for Fearless Champions in the coming days.

2024 Game 1 vs 2023 Game 1

Where are we now? The why in Wyoming can be scaled down to excuses, viable, but just like aholes - all got one and all stink. But....

2024 Culture: Defined, refined and established expectations. When taking over a program year 1 survive, year 2 build on the foundation set, year 3 thrive from past experiences. Young o-line goes with whatever the culture is...dysfunctional culture makes a inexperienced o-line (and defense) worse. The culture set by Joey and crew is one of the best. See transfers in vs transfers out and = great acceleration. Oline will build and be great by end of season.
2023 Culture: good but awkward. Shough, great tough kid, didnt bring the leadership you wanted. At this point last year, Behren was already on everyone's mind. The lingering chemistry between Wells guys and Joeys is unavoidable, but reared its head in year 2 more than year 1. Loss to Wyoming was a dysfunctional culture loss. If replayed now, lose a LB, strong culture fits in and fixes it.

2024 QB: See above. Not just the fans but the team believes he can.
2023 QB: No trust he could pull a team by himself. Love the fight, but it is what it is.

2024 Oline: Young - will be really good. Very good coach, much more loved and heard than before. RB is good and will help early miscues.
2023 Oline: Big, but fell to culture and injuries. Obviously if Joey made a change, there was mess.

2024 RB: Top in nation
2024 RB: Top 10 in nation

2024 WR: Stupid. Dumb good. Healthy all season can become top 10 in nation. Kid from Stephenville is 3rd best and a dude.
2023 WR: Kid from Stphenville is most trusted one.

2024 TE: Incredible transfer, and depth all around. TE is the position that can win/lose tight games. We have one+
2023 TE: kind of like our oline, health of qb and te took away from good ones.

2024 DLine: Big, young and physical. Another culture watch - will grow with minutes
2023 DLine: Big, experienced leaders. Ends didnt come through as anticipated but DC is so good disguising - getting team ready for Oregon was incredible - last half of season nobody better.

2024 LB: Similar to WR core. Crazy size and experience.
2023 LB: Really hoping they could play good -

2024 DB: Fast - unproven. Culture breeds success and so does toast redeaux.
2023 DB: Really good.

2024 Special Teams: Australian kicker must be a good thing - excellent coach - thrive
2023 ST: Amazing kickers and speed.

Trip to Washington will judge the culture compared to Wyoming. Tech is ungood on the WEST coast. That changes.
Trips to tcu, Okie state, iowa state, arizona will be fun.

Last year I thought we could compete in any game. 3 QBs hurt and lack of trust messed that up. I do feel every game on the schedule we can not just compete but play to win. Culture is a funny thing and that is one of Joey's best attributes is building a house to stand on.

Vivid Seats: Most Popular NCAA Football Teams by County

FWIW. "Texas Tech is the most popular college football team in the country by county, according to a map powered by Vivid Seats college football ticket sales from 2010 to present day. The Georgia Bulldogs check in at No. 2 with 120 counties."

Tech is the most popular team in several New Mexico counties and, bizarrely, 1 county in Colorado and 2 counties in South Dakota. Here is a link to the interactive map:

Texas Tech, Patrick Mahomes, Kliff Kingsbury and Kirby Hocutt

Years ago I did a sports marketing start-up and my first client was Under Armour. I was invited to their HQ's in Baltimore and had the opportunity to meet Kevin Plank and a couple of their execs. One of the interesting takeaways from the meeting was a comment made by one of the execs about a question he had posed to several of the NFL players that worked (endorsement deals) with UA. He asked them "where have you had the most fun playing football and where is your loyalty"? The interesting answer by an overwhelming majority of the players was their high school and college days.

I bring this up because these elite athletes, now NFL players, were loyal and enjoyed where they came from over where they were.

Texas Tech may not do everything perfect. Kliff Kingsbury's coaching career at Texas Tech may not have turned out like he or any of us wanted it to be. But one thing, one very important fortuitous thing happened...Texas Tech and Kliff Kingsbury left an indelible impression on Patrick Mahomes to the extent that he has become the epitome of an NFL star who is giving back to a place he loves and undoubtedly enjoyed every moment of his time.

Thank you Texas Tech, Thank you Kliff Kingsbury, Thank you Kirby Hocutt for the positive impressions and love you left in the soul and heart of Patrick Mahomes.

And most of all Thank you Patrick Mahomes for being arguably the greatest Professional Athlete Ambassador Texas Tech has ever had!

WSMFPRed Big XII Season Prediction

This is all things equal. Everyone full strength, etc.
KU v OSU in the title game. KU is your Big XII Champ but both get in the playoff.
The Reds clearly show that they are ascending to the Premier Big XII TX program that will supercharge our '26 class and have us with all the buzz and momentum heading into '25 season a la '08.
Unfortunately, KSU beats us out for the Alamo Bowl which will relegate us to yet another Texas Bowl for our chance at our first 10 win season in 16 years.

KU 11-1 (8-1)
OSU 11-1 (8-1)
UU 10-2 (7-2)
KSU 10-2 (7-2)

Economic Recovery

Great interview of Fed Chairman Jerome Powell by Scott Pelley.

Powell predicts 6-7% GDP growth and limited inflation - highest in 30 years. Poised for a very strong economy.

Jerome Powell: I would say this. What we're seeing now is really an economy that seems to be at an inflection point. And that's because of widespread vaccination and strong fiscal support, strong monetary policy support. We feel like we're at a place where the economy's about to start growing much more quickly and job creation coming in much more quickly. So the principal risk to our economy right now really is that the disease would spread again. It's going to be smart if people can continue to socially distance and wear masks.

Scott Pelley: You seem to be saying, not about COVID, but about the economy, that we're out of the woods.

Jerome Powell: Well, I'd say that we and a lot of private sector forecasters see strong growth and strong job creation starting right now. So really, the outlook has brightened substantially.

Scott Pelley: What are your projections for growth and employment?

Jerome Powell: If you look at what private sector forecasters are saying or what forecasters who sit around this table who are on the Federal Open Market Committee, our rate setting committee, what they're forecasting is growth for this year in the range of 6% or 7%, which would be the highest level in, you know, 30 years. Or even maybe a little bit higher. And forecasting unemployment to move down substantially from 6%, where it is now, maybe to between 4% and 5%.

Scott Pelley: It seems like you're not expecting a recovery, you're expecting a boom.

Jerome Powell: Well, I would say that this growth that we're expecting in the second half of this year is going to be very strong.
