I realize very few people on this site care about Tech's volleyball team, but some of us care about every team that has Texas Tech on their uniforms. I enjoy watching the fast pace of collegiate volleyball. I imagine Tony Graystone is a really nice man and can coach volleyball (won conference championships at a&m Corpus Christi), but outside of the 2017 season when the team finished as runner-up to Ole Miss in the National Volleyball Invitational Tournament (where Tech had to play all of their matches at the opposing teams' home courts and Ole Miss got to host every round including the championship), his Tech teams have not been competitive in the Big 12.

Even in 2017, Tech was 4-12 in the Big 12 and finished 19-15 overall. Here are the results since then (and keep in mind OSU does not field a VB team): 2018 (17-13, 6-10 7th) 2019 17-13, 7-9 5th) 2020 (9-13, 5-11 7th) 2021 (17-13, 7-9 6th) 2022 (16-13, 5-11 7th) and 2023 as of today (8-9, 1-4 10th out of 13 teams). In 2020 TCU finished last (3-13 in conference) and in 2021 they finished last again (2-12 in conference). Then they replaced their coach. In 2022 they finished 3rd in the conference (11-5) and as of today the 2023 team is tied for 3rd (10-5, 3-1) with two of their three wins being against Tech.

If Kirby cares about Tech volleyball, it is time to make a change at the end of this season. Tech should be competitive in every sport in which we field a team. I hope Snider is the right coach to pull the softball program out of the ditch, and it is time to find someone else to lead the volleyball program. Results don't lie. This is not a rant; just an observation.
