April 15 Update: This thread has been moved to the Everything Else Forum. It will be lightly monitored from this point on. The rules that apply in the EEF now apply here.

Previous Update:

OP edited by @A. Dickens:

Political comments in this thread will now result in a two-day thread ban. Repeated offenses may result in a longer or even permanent thread-ban. You can offer reasoned, measured criticisms of any elected or appointed federal, state or local official for how they have responded or acted during the Coronavirus crisis. That is absolutely fair game. You can critique proposed economic response/bailout plans on their merits. Political party affiliation or where someone falls on the political spectrum is irrelevant. If you feel personally attacked when someone shares reasoned, measured criticism of the Coronavirus-related performance of someone that you voted for or support, that is entirely a you problem. I would encourage you to Report any posts that you feel cross the line from legitimate critique to political comment.

Measured, reasoned critical or supportive comments about legislation or proposed legislation is completely OK. Blanket, unsupported statements about whole political parties are not OK.

If your post is based on an assumption that a political figure or party is acting in bad faith during a national crisis, I will view it as political and disable your ability to contribute to the discussion for two days.
