Here we go. Big 12 home opener for the Red Raiders is just ahead. Let's jump into the opponent for Texas Tech.

Oklahoma State rolls in after taking a ranked Baylor squad to overtime on Saturday and I watched a good portion of that game, so here are my eye test takeaways before we get into the data.

The Cowboys guarded the three point line really well, they held BU's star freshman Ja'Kobe Walter to minimal touches. BU's 7-0 freshman Yves Missi had a big day, especially in the second half. He frankly dominated the boards and it showed in the box score. Baylor had 16 offensive boards to OSU's five.

OSU's offensive output came from three guys, Bryce Thompson (1) who had 15 points and was 0-6 from three in the game. Thompson puts pressure on the rim from his 6-6 frame and plays with the ball in his hand the majority of the time. Javon Small (12) is another guard that will cause issues, who again goes to the rim. The last major contributor against Baylor who was the 6-11 freshman Brandon Garrison (23) who had 20 points but wasn't that big of a factor on the boards.

This team gets buckets by driving and kicking and is longer than Tech is on the floor. I think you're going to see a bit of style similarity with Tech's ability to drive, which seems to be the bread and butter of this OSU offense. Tech and OSU seem to rebound similarly, not great and from a team perspective. I think Tech is going to have a chance to make things tough on OSU from a turnover perspective and the Cowboys are coming off a 4-20 night from beyond the arc.

Now, some numbers...

Biggest thing that jumps out is OSU's ability to guard the perimeter on KenPom, especially after a great showing against Baylor. Oklahoma State is a really solid shooting team from everywhere on the floor by the data, I think that you need to close out really well.

OSU is pretty careless with the ball while Tech creates turnovers at an above average clip on the season. The Cowboys are turning the ball over on 19.6 percent of their possessions and get the ball stolen on 11.9 of their possessions, both numbers that are well above the national average.

OSU hasn't gotten many shots blocked, but Warren Washington has been one of the best in the conference at blocking shots, so it's curious if he can make an impact against this drive and kick team.

The Cowboys are going to sub quite a bit and use their bench a ton, look out for the backup center in Mike Marsh (32), senior guard Jarius Hicklen (4), and freshman guard Jamyron Keller (14). Hicklen has shot it well from three at a 41.7% clip (25/60) off the bench. Small is the other 40+% shooter from beyond the arc, he is 30/71 (42.3) on the year.

Should be a good one, but Tech should win this one. No off nights in this league.
