Coach is in a very difficult situation.....

1 - one of his best players is accused of sexual assault, while drinking alcohol on a road trip
2 - Was it a criminal assault, if so, rape is not only a sexual crime, but a crime of violence
3 - The family of the victim is bringing a civil complaint. Without a medical examination
of the girl, there will be no physical evidence of assault. It might also affect a civil
action. Proving rape is extremely difficult without an exam.
4 - The alleged crime occurred in the Bahamas, a country in the Caribbean Islands. so
under the jurisdiction of the country of the Bahamas
5 - Texas Tech University will be involved through the NCAA....but as there is apparently
no criminal charge, a civil trial will likely take months. What is the obligation of the University, if any?
6 - Coach McCasland is faced with a difficult ethical choice. At best, Isaacs could (or should) be disciplined
for using alcohol on a team trip....at worst he could be suspended until the issue is resolved which will
take months. What a dilemma for coach, who seems to be an excellent coach and likely a man of
integrity.
