We are down to 6 games left in the regular season. 2 more wins is likely a lock for March Madness, but what’s the best (realistic) scenario for success in the post season? Best case is cancelling the Big 12 tournament and avoid extra meaningless games on our thin and tired roster. In the event that the B12 tournament is indeed held, we need to shoot for a top 4 seed to at least minimize the number of games we have to play.
So what’s the path to a top 4? ISU and UH are surely locks so it’s Ŧ, KU, BU and TCU, maybe BYU fighting for two spots. KU and BU have tough schedules to finish. Ŧ and TCU have the easier, but not easy, paths. After almost no number crunching and mostly guesswork I concluded that 11-7 was the magic number for a 4 seed. That means 4-2 down the stretch. The most important game of that stretch is TCU on Tuesday. Beating the toads this week would go a long way towards that dream of a B12 tourney bye. That wins allows a split with UT and BU at home and dropping one on the road vs UCF, WVU and OSU. We need everyone to show up Tuesday and shower the frogs with the same gracious hospitality they gave us when we played in Ft Worth.
