The Higgs is the particle that was confirmed with experiments at CERN. This particle explains how things in our universe have mass. He was quoted recently that he is worried that the Higgs could be unstable, which would mean that our universe could disappear at the speed of light (we would simply die and never know it)

He is worried because the Higgs particle is measured with GeV or gigaelectronvolts which is a measure of energy.

This measure (the value of the GeV) is significant for the universe (and life in it)

we can argue about humans place in the universe but the value of the GeV is important not only for the fate of the universe and us, but it also has meaning about how the universe works.

Where the value falls could show us that there is a Supersymmetry to the universe (which some religions would find appealing or comforting) and just chaos.

What is important about the HIgss and its energy is that if the GeV value falls in certain ranges (higer) then it points to the multiverse theory being correct and we will never have access to the deeper theory as all that information would be in the other universes.
