Just for fun…If it would’ve happened, what do we do? I think I lean towards money whipping Dave Smart to come back as my first choice. I’m not sure he would’ve been open to that, though. I reffed one of his kids in a tourney about a month before the season started and chopped it up with him and his wife for about an hour or so.
They are really awesome folks. Really down to earth and great to talk to. They were experiencing some culture shock here in Lubbock. Especially Mrs. Smart. They said they really liked Grant and the people of Lubbock but were struggling with the flatness and lack of trees, etc. They are also catholic, but enrolled their kids at Trinity because that’s where Grants kids go. They said they were experiencing lots of spiritual culture shock there lol.
I suspect some of their issues with Lubbock played into their decision to move on. I don’t think it would’ve ever felt like home to them here, but that’s just my .02.
I’m interested to hear who some of you savants would’ve gone after?
