Disclaimer: Our 'chatter' threads should not be taken as gospel. These are bits of information that we have come across that we definitely feel qualify as plausible or probable, but may not be absolutely certain. This may not qualify as capital-J journalism but, ultimately, our view is that you subscribe to RedRaiderSports.com for access to precisely this kind of behind-the-scenes scuttlebutt.

Furthermore, these bits of information are from the RRS staff collectively and coming from a variety of sources. I'm simply tasked with putting it all together in post form.

6:04 p.m.: Texas Tech met today with Anthony Lynn for four hours. We believe he was told that he would hear back from Texas Tech within 48 hours.

4:14 p.m.: No decisions have been made in Texas Tech's coaching search and the institution is still working its way through the process. We have been able to gather that meetings will continue throughout the weekend and those could potentially spill into next week. There's been a lot of progress made and it does appear that Texas Tech is in a good spot with everything.

... We have been able to gather that Texas Tech officials did conduct an interview last night with Baylor associate head coach Joey McGuire. We believe that the university will conduct interviews with Oklahoma defensive coordinator Alex Grinch and Detroit Lions offensive coordinator Anthony Lynn in the next 24-48 hours. Once those interviews are conducted, we will have a very good sense of where this search is going. Will the committee continue to interview candidates or will they have, at that point, found their guy? Time will tell.
