We kind of got away from this last week, but with the Red Raiders in Norman this evening, still needing another road win in the Big 12, I wanted to talk about some keys to victory tonight.

With Texas Tech in Norman tonight with a date with the Sooners’ in the fold, we break down the Sooners by the numbers.

Last time around with Oklahoma, you really ran out of gas and it seems like you played pretty well, it seems like the Red Raiders should’ve won this one statistically, and you need this again. This’ll be a battle between two teams on the brink of the bubble with Tech having the momentum, both have to have it.

Key One: Shut Down Grant Sherfield Once Again

Grant Sherfield shot super inefficiently in January and the Red Raiders seemingly got a bit lucky with Sherfield’s 4-17 (3-12 3pt) shooting night in Lubbock.

Over the season, Sherfield has been an excellent shooter and Tech will need to do another good job shutting him down since he’s become the Sooners’ far and away No. 1 option in February.

Key Two: Find a way to get Kevin Obanor Going

Over the last three games, Obanor has been made a complete non-factor by opposing teams and I really feel like you’re going to need a big night from him tonight.

Obanor had a massive 15 points and seven rebounds against the Sooners in Lubbock and hit some massive shots down the stretch while playing all 45 minutes that night, you need him to get back to near that tonight to have a good amount of success.

Key Three: Win the Perimeter

Last time around, Texas Tech went 2-18 from beyond the arc. That about sums it up, you must shoot better than that.

On the flip side, the Sooners shot a lot of threes, as have a lot of teams against the Red Raiders this season, but a 9-27 night from three was a bit lucky for Tech, and the Red Raiders must continue to make defending the perimeter a priority.

Key Four: Rebound

The Red Raiders have done a better job of this of late and won the rebounding battle against Oklahoma but shutting down Tanner Groves on the boards will be key.

This is always a key, but especially with such a threat on the boards in Groves and since it has been a problem at times for the Red Raiders.

Texas Tech and Oklahoma tip off at 8 p.m. in Norman tonight.
