Texas Tech knocked off No. 20 Texas in Austin on Saturday night in the Big 12 opener.

-Have a night, Joe Toussaint. Not much more to say. He was excellent on both ends and managed himself when he got into foul trouble late.

-It was awesome to see Warren Washington find his offensive game with his back to the basket. Had his best night of the season in a really nice time. Used that spin move a few times, also was able to score on some lobs along with a fadeaway mid-range if I remember correctly.

-Robert Jennings provided some really strong minutes behind Warren, probably the best of his season as well. Was huge on defense and knocked down a couple of big-time buckets. Has to be a bit more disciplined down low but him coming along is massive for the outlook of this team going forward.

-Honestly, a very commendable night for Pop Isaacs, who has more off the court distractions right now than any athlete I’ve ever covered. Honestly a big-time performance on the offensive end.

-Tech heated up in the second half from beyond the arc and it was really necessary for this team to do so. The guards struggle to get penetration at times and finding looks from three using the screen game was very nice to see.

-Darrion Williams didn’t fill up the stat sheet but his defensive intensity was apparent, as was the entire team. Tech was quicker to loose balls on the floor and did a really good job limiting looks against the elite guards of Texas.

-I thought Tech did a good job on Abmas until he got a couple of quality looks in the second half.

-Tech still struggled on the boards tonight, Texas is just a much larger team which is going to be a theme for this team all season. 15 offensive boards given up just isn’t going to cut it, no matter how you slice it.
