What a gritty win from the Red Raiders, a thing of beauty in the second half. What a night.

Quick notes…

-BYU absolutely put on a clinic in the first half and it was quite unfathomable to see a team shoot it that well and they regressed in the second half a bit.

-This team’s seeming ability to give up extended runs has been a problem all year and it was again tonight. To open you give up a 10-0 run and then to close the first half you give up a 9-2 run after finally punching back.

-The Red Raiders perimeter defense has been an issue all year, and the seeming trait that “teams shoot the lights out against Tech” has been true this year, and its been the fact that shooters are open on the perimeter. Tech has been the worst team in the conference in allowing threes this season.

-Khalifa was killer, just brutal to go up against that big of a threat everywhere.

-Defense significantly improved in the second half. BYU didn’t get as clean of looks and the Tech physicality was night and day to the first half.

-Pop Isaacs completely took over in the second half, that was so much fun to watch.

-The key to me in how Tech got back into this one was the ability to turn BYU over combined with their lack of shotmaking in the second half. They had seven with 2:30 to go (I wont have time to update that stat, so if someone want’s to give the final total below, feel free).

-What a win for this team. They punched back at a rate that hasn’t been in this building for a while.
